Mother Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu was born on the 26th of August, 1910 in Skopje, North Macedonia. She was an Albanian-Indian Roman Catholic nun and missionary who devoted her life to serving the poor and destitute around the world.
Mother Teresa was the founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic congregation of women dedicated to helping the poor. In 1979, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and became a symbol of charitable and selfless work.
Considered one of the 20th Century’s greatest humanitarians, she was canonized as Saint Teresa of Calcutta in 2016. Mother Teresa died on the 5th of September, 1997 in Kolkata, India.
