Prayer For A Broken Heart

Lord, my heart is so heavy this morning. My sorrow is so great. In the midst of all this pain I am feeling, I am so thankful that you are God and I am not. I am thankful that you are all-powerful, that I do not have to hold it all together or be strong for everyone in my life. You are my strength. You are strong for my loved-ones when I can’t be. I am thankful you are all-knowing – that you know the outcome to this misery I am facing. That I don’t have to figure out what the next week or month or year looks like, because you have it all held together. And you promise my feet won’t slip. Help me, Lord! Strengthen me for today. Give me daily bread, that I can be sustained through this heartache. Thank you God that you are close when I am hurting. Thank you God for the comfort, grace and joy that only you can give. Hold me up today. In your name I pray, Amen.

Oh Father, I come to You and lay all my confusion and pain at Your feet, for my own precious child has betrayed my trust and caused my heart to break. I lay all my hurt and pain at Your feet.

Lord, they have been mesmerised by the fancies of this world and have renounced all the things they learned as a child, all the things that we taught them. Lord, they have not only turned their backs on us and walked away into the arms of the world, but they have rejected You and turned to a system that seeks to destroy them.

Oh Father, into Your hands I place my child. You promised that as we bring up a child in the way they should go, when they are old they will not depart from it. Father, I ask that in Your mercy and grace, You will convict them of their sin, draw them away from these ungodly desires and re-establish them in the gospel of truth.

Lord, You know that as a young child they were brought up in the things of the Lord. I ask that whatever it takes, You will convict them of their sin and bring them back into the truth of Your Word.

Fill my heart with Your peace I pray, as I continue to lift up my child to You. In Jesus’ name,

I give you my worries and concerns and I ask for your guidance. You see it all, the outer circumstances, the inner turmoil. I know that you understand my life, that sometimes my heart weighs heavy with trouble. Right now I lay all these things before you. I breathe in, safe in the knowledge that I am held by grace. I breathe out, knowing that I am held secure in your arms. And I wait on you. For you are all truth, you are overflowing love, you are a beacon of hope and a fortress of faith. Lord, I choose to be attentive to your voice. May I be alert to your Spirit’s guiding as I journey onwards with you. I love you Father. Amen.

Dear Loving Heavenly Father, I come to you a broken-hearted sinner. I come to You in brokenness of heart, for I am beginning to understand what the Lord Jesus Christ actually did for me on the Cross. I realise that I am a sinner not only in the terrible things that I have been engaged in, but in my very heart, which is overburdened with sin. I now understand what it means in the Bible when it says there is no one that is good and that all man wants to do are bad things all the time. I see myself in that verse.

Lord, I am so sorry and I just want to repent and turn away from all the evil that I have been engaged in. My heart is broken to realise that the punishment that I deserve was placed on the Lord Jesus, and that He paid the price for my sins. All my sins have been washed away and He has even clothed me with His own goodness and righteousness.

Father God, I know that I am a sinful person and that I deserve nothing but hell – separation from You for eternity – and yet because of Christ my black soul has been made pure and clean.

Thank You Father. I believe and trust in Christ my Saviour and thank You that Jesus Christ died for us all.

“Father God, I ask in Jesus’ name that You would search me, O God, and know my heart. Try me and know my thoughts and anxieties. See if there be any wicked way in me; and if there is, get it out and lead me in Your way everlasting!

Reach down deeper in me than I could ever reach, Lord—all the way to the bottom of my heart—and do whatever You need to do to heal my broken heart completely. Thank You, Father.”

“Father God, in Jesus’ name, please create in me a clean heart. Renew a right spirit within me. Take away my old, broken heart of stone, and give me a new, bright heart. Take away my old spirit and fill me with Your Spirit. Fill me with Your light, Father, and create in me a bright heart. Thank You, Father.”

O Lord There is nothing but hurt left. I feel so broken, my heart is torn apart. All I can do is wait. Wait in this desolate place, And trust that somehow you can meet me. I feel too weak to go on. I am like a shell, living, breathing, yet so empty. All I can do is give up. Give up in this heartbroken time, And believe that somehow you can restore me. I find the sadness overwhelming, Like wave upon wave of emptiness All I can do is rest. Rest within your suffering and hope that through you – Your love, your forgiveness and your strength – I will wake to a new day A new dawn for my heart and my life. Amen.

O Lord my God, I come to You bereft in spirit with a heart that is breaking. My mind is in turmoil and I just do not understand all the turmoil that seems to be hitting me from all sides. You know Lord exactly the pain that is in my heart and the sadness and grief that I am going through and I come to You, my God, seeking Your blessed peace in my heart.

Heal my hurting heart and bind up the lacerations that have penetrated so deeply into my soul, for You alone are my hope, You alone are my strength and stay. I have nothing and no one left but You Lord.

Bind up my fragmented heart I pray, as You have promised. It says in Your Word that You came to heal the broken hearted and to free those that were entrapped in the emotional turmoil of their lives. Lord, that is my position now and I trust in You alone.

I give You my fragmented heart and pray for Your blessed peace, Your gracious peace, Your perfect peace that passes all human comprehension. Take me as I am Lord and fill me anew with your love and grace, for only through You can I be renewed in spirit, only in You can I rest in safety.

We’ve been tossed by the seas of resentment and hurt, And the damage has torn us apart. O Lord, help us rescue the love we once shared To mend each damaged feeling and part. We’ve been pulled in different directions, Swayed far away from the path. O Lord, may your light draw us close again, To find all that we shared in the past. We have abandoned the love that once grew, Let it fail, watched it wither and bend. O Lord, as we open our lives back to you, Come and tend to our union as friends. We have just one hope to turn this around, So Jesus we fall at your feet. Let hope rise to draw us together as one, Your healing is all that we seek.

Lord, please heal my broken heart. Fill me with the peace and joy I know can only come from You during this hard time. Walk closely beside me during my journey to healing and recovery that I know is possible through Your power alone. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
