Tribute to Late Grandfather

Silver-haired, with a twinkle in his eye,
Our grandpa was a wonderful guy.
His laugh could always fill up a room,
So jovial with a resounding boom.When grandpa would come to our house to visit,
We kids relished every single minute.
He’d tell us stories from when mom (or dad) was little,
And sometimes he’d play us a song on his fiddle.We could always ask grandpa when we needed advice,
And he never had to tell us anything twice.
He was a man you could always take at his word,
And he never had to speak loud to be heard.

Now the room will no longer echo with his laughter,
Since he’s moved on into the mists of ever after.
But to those who know and love him like we still do,
His memory will warm our hearts ’til we go to heaven too.

Tears streamed down my face when I saw you that way.
I love you, Grandpa; I will love you every day.
As my tears raced down my face,
I knew you’d soon be in a happier place.
My love will follow you wherever you go.
Oh, how I loved you so.
Although I feel sorrow and hate,
You can’t fight fate.
You told me everything as time passed by and by.
I never wanted you to die.
We did a lot together throughout the years.
It’s time to wipe away the tears.
I want you to know
I will never let you go.
I know you loved me too.
My heart will always be with you.
Now it’s time to say goodbye,
Until I see you again someday when I die.

You were my only granddad,
But yet you were all I would ever need.
You would make everyone laugh and smile and chuckle
With your stories; you always shone; you took the lead.I never had a father in my life,
So you always took on that role.
I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better example.
You were there in every way; it’s like we were connected by our soul.So when you left, I couldn’t believe it.
I denied it and hid away all my tears.
I’m now the shell of the girl you once loved and held.
I’m losing faith, losing hope and full of fears.

I wish that I could just sit on your lap one more time,
Feel the way you would hold me so tight and secure.
But now without you around, I do not feel very safe.
It’s like you left and I fell and crash landed on the bottom floor.

Now I can’t see you, can’t feel you or hear you,
But I know I will never love anyone as much as you.
You were my granddad, my best friend, my buddy.
I’m proud to be your granddaughter, and I hope you’re proud of me too.

Only you.

My eyes are swollen from all the tears
My cheeks stained with their trails

And I am surrounded by my fears
You used to fight the monsters
And keep me safe from harm
But now you are not with me

Since the day you went away
it’s gotten harder and harderSeems like yesterday
that we were together.
Then I opened my eyes
to realize you were gone forever.It will slice our heart away
to know you’re not here with us
for the rest of our lives.

Family parties and dinners
won’t be the same
’cause you won’t be there.

There’s going to be that empty chair
near that dinner table,
where it’s going to be empty and cold.

You are a man that gave us
inspiration and courage
to achieve our goals.
You told us our rights from wrong
and most of all you put others before you.

You’re not going to be with us,
but you will be forever in our hearts.
It’s going to feel like we are
together, but apart.

Pop was a man who would share and joke,
But for him everyone was a bleedin’ bloke.
His family made him so happy and proud,
Everyone he met he would tell them aloud.
You have left so many happy thoughts in my heart,
I am still finding it hard to believe we are now apart.
If I were given one wish what would it be?
It would be for you to be here for one more day with your family
I am heartbroken that you are no longer here.
When I think of you, I will always shed a tear.
People tell me in time the pain will stop,
But I will always miss the times I had with my dearest Pop,
And now it is time for us to say goodbye,
He will be looking down on us, wishing us not to cry,
But this I will say to Pop as a guarantee,
In our heart’s a memory, and there you’ll always be.Love you Pop

It is not long ago
That you left my life
You flew away to heaven
To be with your children and wife
It all seems like a bad dream, one I cannot escape
It feels as if I am trapped in an unfamiliar place
I used to walk in the door and see you sitting there
A smile in your weak blue eyes
Silver in your hair
But then you started to get sick
Before I knew that was it
I tried my best not to cry
It’s too hard with a last goodbye
I sit and wonder even now
If you are up there looking down
Are you happy, are you sad?
Are you disappointed when I am bad?
I wish I could see you and have you here
My shining light to block my fear
But you are with me, this I know
For from my heart you will never go.

I know we are all feeling a little bit sad
That we’ve lost our Grandpa, our friend, and our dad.
Together we have cried an ocean of tears
As we feel so empty and hold many fears.But Grandpa would want us to know he’s in a good place
And that he’s watching us all with a smile on his face,
As we have made him so proud, as proud as can be
That he has raised such a beautiful and special family.Thinking back now, I really must say
I feel lucky and privileged to have known Grandpa to this day.
For in my life, you have played a special part.
The memories I will treasure and keep close to my heart.

For me, I am glad my little baby he got to meet.
And for all of us, be grateful, his life is now complete.
To each one of us he has loved and cared.
As a family, be thankful for the good times we shared.

Although he has gone, we will always be together,
And his spirit will live on in each one of us forever.
When you look to the sky, look for the brightest star,
As that will be Grandpa looking down on us from afar.

And now I would like to thank the good Lord above
For blessing us with our Grandpa, with his kindness and love.
Dear God, if it is not too much fuss,
Take extra special care of our Grandpa, for he is very dear to us.

Grandpa, if you are listening, say a prayer for us every day.
Be sure to protect us and guide us on our way.
We know when God called you, you had to go,
But we want you to know, Grandpa, we miss you and love you so

My grandfather was a quiet man,
But his silence could speak volumes.The warmth of his gaze said, “I love you.”
The strength of his hugs said, “I will keep you safe.”
The gentleness of his hands said, “You’re precious to me.”
His nod of approval for a job well done said, “I respect you.”In the years to come, I may not remember many of the words my grandfather spoke,
But the memories of what he conveyed without speaking a word will stay in my heart.

I was who you called your little squirrel,
And who you also called your little girl.
Near the peach tree where you had laid,
I wanted you to have stayed another day.
But I felt a peace when the wind would blow,
Only to hear you say I must go.
Now that you are deceased,
We pray you are at peace.
Because when Grandma died,
You knew that you had tried.
And in your heart you were so blue,
But we knew Grandma loved you.
I wish I could again see you,
Because our hearts are also so blue.
Your life on Earth I know became boring,
But now you can rest while we are mourning.
And now you and Grandma can be together,
Because we now know you are much better.
Why did you have to die?
But for now we must say goodbye.

Sometimes I get overwhelmed
By the fact that you’re gone.
As my heart has aches and pains,
I’m fighting to be strong.I feel like life has failed me,
The atmosphere is full of doom.
So now I’m walking on a dead-end road,
Humming a tune-less tune.I long for the day I will see you,
And my heart is hanging on a single thread,
For I know God takes the ones he loves the most,
But I just wish you weren’t dead.

We had a wonderful grandfather,
One who never really grew old;
His smile was made of sunshine,
And his heart was solid gold;
His eyes were as bright as shining stars,
And in his cheeks fair roses you see.
We had a wonderful grandfather,
And that’s the way it will always be.
But take heed, because
He’s still keeping an eye on all of us,
So let’s make sure
He will like what he sees.

We know you can no longer stay with us,
you fought long and hard to be with us.
We know you now watch over and protect us.
Although we cannot hear your voice or see your smiling face,
We know deep down in our hearts that you have not left us.
Instead every day you surround us with the singing of the birds,
the rising of the sun and the falling of night.
So many broken hearts are left behind,
But in our deepest despair our greatest comfort lies knowing
that you are now at peace with the angels and God.
So as times passes our tears will dry,
our hearts will mend,
but our love for you will never end.

My Grandfather was a man who had smiles to brighten your days,
who always made you feel good with his warm words of praise.
And what’s more he knew
what to do to make wishes come true.
He was my Grandfather.

My Grandfather was someone who always had good stories to tell,
but just as importantly he knew how to be a good listener as well.
He was patient and kind
and the very best friend you could ever hope to find.
He was no ordinary man.
And I’m proud to tell the world that
